Hooray – the holiday season is here! It is a time for family, friends, travel, buying and receiving gifts, and enjoying the beautiful decorations and music that surround us. With all of the joy and magic of the season, this is also a time that creates added stress and pressure in our lives, as we try to get it all done at the end of a busy year. There is also pressure to want to please those we love. For many people, this time of year can be as equally draining as it is joyful. So how do you manage your self-care during the holidays?
Here is one simple tip, as to not add to your already long to do list! Practice gratitude. Every day take a moment to think about at least one thing that you are grateful for. You can even write a longer list and keep it with you to look at when you are feeling burnt out or emotional.
We all have many blessings in our lives, and by focusing on these things, it helps keep us grounded in what is working. It also reminds us what is truly important, like our health and the simple joy that a hug from our family can provide.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
